Wedding Portraits: Why I Won’t Steal You Away for Hours

There is a misconception that you have to be taken away from your celebration for hours on end from photographers. I’m here to tell you that’s not true and it’s not how I operate.

Just to clarify; I want you to drink those cocktails from drinks reception, eat your canapés, mingle with aunt Mary or uncle Mike that you haven’t seen in 10 years.

I want you to laugh over the same joke your dad has told as his party trick. So here is some reasons why I won’t take you away for hours.

I'm Not Anti-Portraits.

Portraits are arguably my favourite part of the day. They give me the chance to express my creativity and have fun with you.

However, I believe there should be limits. I don’t want to take you away from your day; I want to document it.

You Booked Memories, Not a "Vogue" Photoshoot.

You invited your favourite people, chose a beautiful venue, and spent months (or years!) planning the perfect dinner, music, and decor.

You didn't book me to direct you like a model for ten hours. While there will absolutely be portraits, they won't be for hours on end.

The Best Photos Aren’t Staged.

The truth? The best photos happen when you don’t see me. My past clients told me that their absolute favourite photos in their gallery were the candid, unforced ones.

During the drinks reception, the morning prep, or the speeches, I step back. This takes the pressure off you and allows you to be truly present.

My Approach: The "Micro-Chunk" Method.

Instead of long, exhausting sessions, I break the photos into "micro-chunks" throughout the day. This prevents burnout and let’s be honest; it totally kills the vibes of the wedding day if your energy is deflated.

You deserve to experience the day that you planned.

Here is an example portrait timeline.

(Travel time not included)

Morning Prep: 30-45 minutes
Post-Ceremony: 20-30 minutes
Post-Dinner: 15-20 minutes
Everything Else: Completely Candid

Why You Need This!

I believe in a simple formula:

Less Portrait Time = More time with Family & Guests = Authentic, Emotional Photos.

You deserve and truly need to be present to experience your day in all its glory.

If you want a day focused on your experience rather than a forced photoshoot, I’d love to capture your story.

I am currently opening dates for 2027 and 2028.
