5 Prompts that Don’t Feel like Posing - How to get the most from your day!

Let’s be honest, “posing” sounds stiff. Awkward. Like you have to be someone you’re not. And that’s the last thing you want showing up in your photos.

But that’s not how I work.

When you book your wedding or elopement session with me, we move, we play, we interact. It’s not about faking smiles, it’s about finding the moments that already exist between you. I just help bring them out.

Here are 5 prompts I use that never feel like posing:

1. “Look at each other like it’s your first date.”

Remember that spark? The butterflies? That nervous, giddy energy? This brings it all rushing back. It softens your expressions and brings your focus to each other, not the camera.

2. “Spin each other around like you’re dancing for the first time.”

It’s playful, chaotic, full of laughter. You might trip, you’ll definitely laugh, and those moments? Gold. Wild hair, real connection, and movement that feels alive.

3. “Bump hips like you’re trying to annoy each other.”

Silly? Yes. But it works. It’s fun, natural, and breaks the tension instantly. Suddenly you’re not thinking about photos, you’re just being yourselves.

4. “Grab her from behind and whisper something in her ear.”

Always a favourite. Whether it’s sweet or cheeky, the reaction is real, a soft smile, a giggle, a spontaneous kiss. Those unguarded reactions are everything.

5. “Play hide-and-seek.”

It might sound childish, and that’s the point. You’ll run, peek, laugh, and forget I’m even there. That’s when I capture the magic: the real, unfiltered you.

Your wedding or session shouldn’t feel like work. You don’t need to perform or pretend. You just need to show up, in love, maybe a little camera shy, and let the moments unfold.
